Green Proof Your Home to Host Green Cocktail Party

Belle Meade Highlands HOA and Special Guests Invited for an Evening of Environmental Awareness, Organic Drinks and Hors d’ oeuvres  

Nashville, TN (August 20, 2008) – Green Proof™ Your Home, a residential consulting service designed to outline the simple steps of going green, will host a “green” cocktail party for members of the Belle Meade Highlands Home Owners Association (HOA) and special guests on August 28, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.

“I believe the most logical place to begin to make a significant impact is in my own neighborhood,” said Tara Biller, founder and owner of Green Proof Your Home. “My husband Daniel and I decided to host a party at our home to educate our neighbors, family and friends about the “greener” choices they can make everyday – not only to benefit the environment but to also save them money while they’re at it. Now who doesn’t love that?”

In addition to the drinks and food, there will be several speakers covering topics including: global warming, recycling, energy conservation, and buying local and organic food.

Speaker Agenda:

7:00 pm Julie Berbiglia, Education Specialist, Metro Nashville Public Works, will discuss Nashville’s recycling program and answer any questions you may have about the topic.

7:30 pm Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and environmental activist Kathy Mattea will give The Climate Projectpresentation.

8:30 pm Jennifer Hagan-Dier, Assistant Commissioner, TN Department of Revenue,  
Liaison to Dept. of Economic & Community Development and Co-Founder & President of Friends of the Nashville Farmers Market, will talk about buying local and organic foods.

Documentary Film Preview:

Jennifer Barrie, Youth Initiative Director, Kilowatt Ours, will be on hand to show a five minute preview of the award winning documentary film Kilowatt Ours

Tara commented, “My hope is that this party will dispel some of the myths about going ‘green.’ There are simple changes that can be made in a home that can have a positive impact on the environment without costing a fortune, or drastically changing the way you live.”

Green Proof Your Home offers an initial home consultation to teach people how to make “green” choices for their homes. The consultation covers household cleaning products, recycling, energy and water conservation, and many other decisions that can be made to reduce a home’s carbon footprint. It also includes a starter kit of environmentally-friendly cleaning products, educational materials and a Green Proof plan of simple suggested behavior modifications for greener living.
