American Forests is a world leader in planting trees for environmental restoration, a pioneer in the science and practice of urban forestry, and a primary communicator of the benefits of trees and forests. American Forests is the nation’s oldest nonprofit citizens’ conservation organization. Citizens concerned about the waste and abuse of the nation’s forests founded American Forests in 1875.

Founded in 2002, Franklin-based DocAir designs and installs systems to make buildings and homes healthier and more energy efficient. Greenbag Lady

Teresa Van Hatten-Granath is Associate Professor at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee - she's also an artist. She makes sturdy handmade bags from donated fabric and gives them out for FREE. The catch is that the person who receives the bag has to promise to use it instead of paper or plastic. Each bag has a number in it, and when you get your bag; you simply give Teresa your name, city and bag number. The hope is through her blog to document the use of these bags all over Nashville and eventually the world. Send her your pictures, your stories, your extra fabric or even an old shirt and she'll make a bag out of it! Let's start a revolution ... one bag at a time.

Started in early 2007, the campaign focuses on the vast number of Nashville residents, as well as the surrounding counties, that are looking for sustainable resources in their every day lives. Healthy Child Healthy World

Healthy Child Healthy World is a national, nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization that inspires parents to protect young children from harmful chemicals. The organization exists because more than 125 million Americans, predominantly children, now face an historically unprecedented rise in chronic diseases and illnesses such as cancer, autism, asthma, allergies, birth defects, ADHD, obesity, diabetes, and learning and developmental disabilities.

Credible scientific evidence increasingly points to environmental hazards and household chemicals as causing and contributing to many of these diseases. Healthy Child Healthy World aims to educate parents, support protective policies and engage communities to make responsible decisions, simple everyday choices and well-informed lifestyle improvements to create healthy environments where children and families can flourish.
